Outstanding REALTOR® Association Web Site Contest: 2006 Judging Instructions
Judging Web sites is subjective. There’s such a wide variety of site styles and features. So for this contest, the sites will not be judged against each other, rather they will be judged on how well each one achieves its apparent purpose and goal.
In this way we can take into consideration that, for example, an online education registration form may not be a useful feature for an association with only 80 members, where as it would be considered an essential for an association of 4,000 members.
How to Judge
You don’t have to be an expert in Web sites to evaluate effectiveness. We all visit Web sites and we know when we’re frustrated and when we’re impressed. If the site you’re judging is a member-focused site, put yourself in the shoes of a member and ask yourself: Can I get up-to-date information here on association activities and information that helps me do business? Are all the associations programs and products represented here? Is there information on how to join and what benefits I’d receive?
For portions of a site that target consumers, ask yourself: Can I find out where to go for online home listings? Can I locate a REALTOR® through this site? Can I find information on the homebuying process? Where do I go to file a complaint?
Of course, the judging form you will be asked to fill out for each Web site will provide more specific guidance on what to look for.
Comments Valuable
In addition to the numerical scores you assign to each site, your written comments are extremely valuable as we select the winners. Let us know about cool features of Web sites or unexpected problems that you encountered.
There will be three winners in the member-focused site category, three winners in the member/consumer site category, and several honorable mentions. The winners will be featured in the spring issue of RAE Magazine. To view the 2005 winners, click here.
Conflicts of Interest
If you have any conflict of interest with any of the sites on your list please let me know. If you have any questions or problems opening the attachments do not hesitate to contact Kelly Quigley at kquigley@realtors.org.
IDs and passwords for protected sites should all be included in the entry forms. If they're not, please contact Kelly Quigley. Please don’t contact the association directly, as judges should remain anonymous.
Thank you, and good luck! |
