NAR Leaders Break Ground on New Capitol Hill Headquarters

WASHINGTON (October 29, 2002) - The REALTOR® family moved one step closer towards a bright, bold future in the nation's capital with the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new NAR Capitol Hill headquarters. Today's ceremony marked the beginning of the effort to construct the new, Class A, environmentally friendly building.

Located just three blocks from the U.S. Capitol, at 500 New Jersey Ave., N.W., the new Washington, D.C. headquarters will give the association a dramatic presence in the capital, and will ultimately save more than $500,000 annually. According to NAR President Martin Edwards Jr., a partner in Colliers Wilkinson & Snowden Inc., Memphis, Tenn., "the location makes a statement about NAR's commitment to participate actively in federal policy-making."
