Statement by NAR President Tom Stevens on
Good Morning America Segment
The March 24 segment on "Good Morning America," “Tricks of the Trade, Confessions of a REALTOR®,” gave a very inaccurate, grossly misleading and unfair depiction of the nation’s REALTORS®. Several of the allegations made by the guest described practices that violate the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, such as intentionally misrepresenting a property and could be grounds for suspension of membership. Because of the Code, all REALTORS® know such behavior is wrong.
ABC has done a terrible disservice by airing this segment. The network should demonstrate its own interest in ethical behavior by giving equal time to the truth about REALTORS®.
