RSPS of the Year Award

A recognition award for a unique certification like Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS) is an award that not only has social relevance, but also brand awareness. The RSPS of the Year and RSPS Rising Star Awards provide REALTORS® with the RSPS certification the opportunity to showcase their own community involvement, marketing techniques, and RSPS-related accomplishments. The awards also provide an opportunity for the REALTOR® community to educate consumers on the value of using a REALTOR® with an RSPS.

Criteria for Nominations
Applicants for both awards must:

• Have earned the RSPS certification
• Be a member in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®.
• Act as a source of knowledge for the resort and/or second-home market.
• Have made a unique and extraordinary impact on the resort and second-home real estate community.
• Provide a philanthropic service in their local community (recommended).
• Please note: In order to be considered for the RSPS Rising Star Award, nominees must have earned their certification no earlier than January 1, 2009.

The Resort and Second-Home Real Estate Committee announced the recipients of the 2011 Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS) of the Year and Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist Rising Star award during the annual REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Anaheim, CA, which was held in early November.

Congratulations to this year's recipients Deb Howard and Don Urschalitz. The award was presented by incoming Chair, George Harvey.

RSPS of the Year Deb Howard, RSPS, CRS, e-PRO Deb Howard, of South Lake Tahoe, CA, has more than 25 years of experience working in the Lake Tahoe real estate market. Deb is the past chair of the Resort and Second-Home Real Estate Committee and will be the 2012 Vice Chair for the Resort and Second-Home Real Estate Forum. She has also been voted "REALTOR® of the Year" two times. Deb believes that being up-to-date on the local and national issues that confront the real estate industry in her second-home market is of paramount importance in assisting each client that comes to Deb Howard & Co. Deb "lives and breathes real estate" 365 days a year.

RSPS Rising Star Don Urschalitz, RSPS, ABR, AHWD, e-PRO, CIPS Don Urschalitz, from Palm Beach County, FL, is the chair of the Florida REALTORS® 2012 Resort and Second-Home Forum. Living and working in the resort area of South Florida, Don believes that this certification speaks volumes to his clients that are considering a second home in sunny Florida. Don believes his RSPS Certification to be highly profitable. He uses the knowledge gained from earning the certification as a tool to foster business and to explain to his clients his ability to find them the perfect resort or second home property. Don has brought a contagious enthusiasm to the resort community in Florida and has branded himself by using his RSPS certification.
