Ink License Reciprocity Agreement The New York Department of State and the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission have agreed to authorize reciprocal licensure between New York and Pennsylvania real estate practitioners effective immediately. Practitioners from the two states can now obtain, upon filing the application and fees, a real estate license from the other state, says Mike Kelly, government and political affairs representative for the New York Association of REALTORSŪ. The two states share a border that’s more than 300 miles long, and Kelly says New York’s practitioners along the border are excited about the reciprocity agreement. New York has had reciprocity agreements with several states for some time, he says. Pennsylvania’s law allowing reciprocal agreements went into effect this February. According to the New York Department of State’s Web site, New York now has reciprocity agreements with 10 states: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. According to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission’s Web site, Pennsylvania now has reciprocity agreements with seven states: Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Nebraska, West Virginia, Wyoming, and New York. —By Pat Taylor for REALTORŪ Magazine Online
