Home buyers looking for a short commute should consider these locations where, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, residents spend the least amount of time getting back and forth to work.
  1. Cascade County, Mont. — 14.0 minutes
  2. Grand Forks County, N.D. — 14.1 minutes
  3. Laramie County, Wyo. — 14.3 minutes
  4. Dubuque County, Iowa — 14.7 minutes
  5. Taylor County, Texas — 14.8 minutes
  6. Wichita County, Texas — 14.8 minutes
  7. Payne County, Okla. — 15.1 minutes
  8. Adams County, Ill. — 15.4 minutes
  9. Story County, Iowa — 15.5 minutes
  10. Twin Falls County, Idaho — 15.6 minutes

The longest commutes can be found in the counties surrounding New York City, with the trip back and forth to Staten Island taking the longest, an average of 42 minutes.
