Daily Real Estate News  |  July 31, 2008  |   From Darkened Window to Income Generator
A New York advertising firm, Inwindow Outdoor LLC, is turning empty storefronts in cities nationwide into an advertising opportunity.

The company pays property owners for the right to wrap their darkened windows in vinyl advertising sheets, creating ads for everything from energy drinks to automobiles.

Steve Birnhak, CEO of Inwindow Outdoor, said the technique provides the property owner with a little income and protects storefronts from graffiti. The ads can be removed quickly when a landlord finds a tenant.

Birnbak says the ads are an easy sell because they are eye-catching and landlords like them as well. "It makes a space look better," he said.
