Web Review: Specialties
Find Local Commercial Listings Online
A searchable commercial property database matches owners and prospective tenants and buyers.
REVIEWED BY CHRIS LEPORINI
Web Site: Cityfeet.com
What the Site Offers
Cityfeet.com is a commercial real estate resource for both small businesses seeking to lease commercial space and investors who are looking to buy commercial property under 10,000 square feet. The site provides a database containing thousands of office, retail, and industrial listings that potential tenants and buyers can search for free. As of September 2003, salespeople or property owners can post their properties in the database for a monthly fee of $59 per lease listing and $99 per sale listing. (Volume discounts are available for 10 or more listings.)
Additionally, all properties listed through Cityfeet.com are automatically posted to more than 30 partner sites, including Yahoo! Real Estate and Buildings.com, and major metropolitan newspapers, such as the Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, and The New York Times. This provides wide exposure for listings, at a relatively inexpensive price, that you can use to advertise commercial properties for your clients or for your own investment properties.
Cityfeet.com, based in New York, is a real estate venture that was started in 1999. It receives its funding through the listing fees, advertising promotions, and through its partnership agreements.
Valuable Site Features for Real Estate Professionals
- Post an Online Listing. Market commercial properties for sale or lease online. The site allows you to enter detailed information for office, retail, and industrial space, as well as vacant land and multifamily buildings, among other property types. You can even include photographs and floor-plan images. Each listing appears on the site’s searchable property database, and on the Web sites of Cityfeet.com’s partners. You also can link the listings to your own Web site.
- Search Listings. Search Cityfeet.com’s database of thousands of commercial properties for free based on criteria that include location, price, property type, and keyword. Users can specify whether they are looking to buy or lease properties. Listings include contact information for the property’s owner or their real estate representative so that you can contact them directly. Cityfeet does not act as the intermediary for the sales or lease transactions and does not charge a referral fee. Register for the e-newsletter “Space Watch,” which sends updates when a new property matching your criteria comes on the market.
- Promote Your Property. The site offers several options to assist owners or real estate professionals in marketing their properties. Its graphic design team can help users create a marketing package that can be tailored to national or local markets, specific property types (sale or lease, office or retail, etc.), or specialized audiences (tenants, brokers, etc.). The marketing packages can be displayed as a featured ad on the Cityfeet.com site; sent out in the “Hot Property” digital brochures to Cityfeet.com’s e-mail list of tenants and real estate professionals who have opted in to receive such information; or included in a bi-weekly, local commercial real estate e-newsletter sent to more than 20,000 real estate professionals nationwide.
