  10 Low-Cost Ways to Get Publicity for Your Event
Exposure and publicity are often the key to a successful fundraiser—the more people who know about it, the more people who attend, and the more money is raised.

1. Begin sending out press releases on the event at least four months prior to the day.

2. Accompany your press release with food. Who could say “no” to brownies?

3. Follow up each release with a personal phone call from the organization’s president.

4. Send personal, hand-delivered invitations to the media to attend.

5. Invite radio or TV personalities to be speakers or honored guests; they'll promote their presence and give you free publicity.

6. Sponsor free ticket giveaways via the radio or at community events.

8. Print or photocopy an inexpensive, one-page flyer and place stacks in local businesses.

9. If your event is annual, call local newspapers and magazines to be published in their annual event listings.
