  Evaluating Non-Sales Staff

Many of the same preparation and listening techniques you use in assessing sales associates also apply to staff positions. However, because these reviews are more likely to influence compensation directly, you also should:
  • Prepare a standardized review form to use in all non-sales positions.
  • Provide a copy of the written review to the employee before the discussion.
  • Ask the employee to do a self-evaluation of performance.
  • Jointly set goals for the next review period.
  • Explain how the review is used to compute salary increases and bonuses.

TIP: For more advice on conducting performance reviews with personal assistants and other employees, visit the Personal Assistant Q&A.
