December 11, 2007: REALTORS® Bring Peace to Mortgage Market
In his first President’s Podcast, 2008 NAR President Dick Gaylord thanks President Bush and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson for an early holiday gift: a program that would help families keep their homes by restructuring or freezing the interest rates on subprime, adjustable-rate mortgages.
NAR is helping to resolve the mortgage crisis once and for all by urging the U.S. Senate to support a unanimous consent vote on FHA Modernization and GSE Reform legislation before the holiday break. Earlier this month, NAR’s federal political coordinators traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with key Senators on this issue, and REALTORS® have already sent more than 50,000 letters.
