Benefits: Paid Time Off
Develop a workplace culture that addresses the needs of one of your organization's most important assets, its staff. A competitive benefits package is often one way to recruit, retain, and motivate talented and dedicated workers.
Time off for employees is generally beneficial to both the employees and the employer.
Vacation
Any vacation policy should include procedures that cover requirements for advance notice, eligibility, length (including the number of days that may be taken at one time), and provisions, if any, for vacation days not taken during a given period.
There are other conditions to consider, such as emergency (or compassionate) leave and whether such leave should be granted with or without pay. The policy should address how any unused vacation leave will be handled.
Holidays
When establishing a policy for paid time off, be sure to provide specifics about legal and religious holidays. This section of the policy should outline if employees are paid for holidays and other days on which your office is closed. Additionally, consider what practice to follow if a recognized holiday falls on a non-work day.
