Surround Sound Campaign: Training

Some REALTOR® associations may appreciate assistance through Surround Sound Training. This training involves representatives from NAR and NAR's partners — Burson-Marsteller and Direct Impact — coming to you for a workshop on community outreach and media relations.

Each class can accommodate as few as 10 participants or as many as 30. You make the call. We offer the training free of charge, but we ask that local REALTOR® associations coordinate their training requests with their state association to assure effective use of resources.  Each training sessions is one day long, running from 9:30 am to 3:30pm.

View a recent REALTOR® Magazine article and video highlighting the type of training offered through Surround Sound and the benefits described by members who participated.  Please note that while the session described in this article involved a camera and playback equipment, the free training offered through the Surround Sound uses role-play only, but no on-camera practice.  Separate arrangements can be made to incorporate a camera and playback equipment, however a fee may be charged for this.

The training is designed for association spokespersons who are charged with reaching out to the media and the community. Each day-long session can be tailored to meet your association needs and is based on making the most of your market messages. View a sample agenda (PDF: 273KB).

Please note, state and local associations are responsible for selecting and arranging for the class facilities and for inviting the participants they choose to each session.  The only equipment needed for a session is an LCD projector and screen, and a flip chart with markers. Since the sessions run most of the day, many associations choose to serve lunch to the participants.

A few days prior to each session, NAR will send electronic files of handouts for the session.  We ask that the state or local association make copies of those files for each participant they invite.

NAR pays the travel and hotel expenses for the instructors.
