Good Neighbor Awards The Good Neighbor Awards recognize REALTORS® who've made an extraordinary commitment to improving the quality of life in their communities through volunteer work. Five winners each year receive $10,000 grants for their cause. The 2009 application deadline is May 22, 2009.

East Lubbock
Special Angels

To help residents in a poor, isolated neighborhood, Attebury enlists residents, colleagues, and even her buyers and sellers to donate furniture, clothing, and toys, then matches the donated items to the people who desperately need them.

 

Jean Clary
Children Are Really
Extra Special

Clary recruits local businesses to sponsor classrooms of schoolchildren, providing them with one-on-one mentoring, field trips, gifts and supplies, and, most of all, people who care. Currently, more than 4,000 students are sponsored.

 

Craig C. Conant
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Johnson County

Conant is behind many projects that enrich his community, including a Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter and a memorial park to remember children, like his daughter, Angel, whose lives have been cut short.

 

Debra Parmenter
Four Corners Health Care, Southwest Safe House, the Women's Resource Center,
and more

Parmenter is the inspiration behind numerous charitable efforts. She founded Adopt-a-Family, which gives holiday gifts to needy families, and is dedicated to many groups, including the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer's Association.

 

Matthew J. Schrum
Northampton Township Volunteer Fire Co.

Full Story
As a volunteer firefighter for 19 years Schrum has risked his safety to help victims of fires and car accidents. As Deputy Fire Chief, he oversees three fire stations and 100 firefighters, who respond to more than 650 calls a year.
