2008 RCE Goals
Committee/Subcommittee/Forum Name: RCE Certification Board
Liaison: Elizabeth Mendenhall
Chair: Nancy McKerahan, RCE
Vice Chair: Jerry Panz, RCE, CAE
Committee goals:
Goal #1: Successfully market the RCE designation to AEs who do not hold the designation to increase the number of applicants/candidates applying for the designation and promote the value and benefit of attaining and maintaining the RCE designation.
Expected Outcome: Increased awareness of the RCE designation and an increased pool of RCE designees.
Action/Update: Automatic emails promoting the RCE designation are sent to students who successfully complete any of the NAR self-study courses.
Members of the RCE Certification Board have been assigned to contact states that currently do not have any RCE designees. The states are Alaska, Guam, Idaho, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Wyoming.
AE and Leadership Development staff promoted the RCE designation at the AE Institute, and distributed more than 200 ADF packets and 5 CAE+5 packets. RCE “puzzle rulers” with the RCE logo on them were also given away at the AE Institute Professional Development booth as a reminder to all AEs that RCE is a “Measure to of Success.”
RCE “points” logos were developed to visually promote all NAR, State, and Local, programs that are worth RCE points. AE and Leadership Development staff will be asking staff working with these programs to consider putting the RCE points logo on their promotional materials, as well as their websites.
RCE CAE+5 packets were mailed to all CAEs that do not have the RCE designation, encouraging them to also earn the RCE designation.
Goal #2: Successfully market the RCE designation to REALTOR® leadership educating them on the benefits of their AE and professional staff earning the RCE designation.
Expected Outcome: Increased awareness of the RCE designation and support from elected leaders.
Action/Update: The value of having the RCE designation was promoted at the Midyear Governance Meeting RCE Leadership Luncheon, and will be promoted at the REALTORS® Conference and Expo's Leadership Luncheon, in which AEs attend with their elected leadership. Attendance for the Midyear luncheon was 463 attendees.
Goal #3: Acknowledge and recognize those who hold the RCE designation.
Expected Outcome: Re-enforcement of the value of the RCE designation among those who have achieved the RCE designation.
Action/Update: All RCEs are recognized at the Midyear Governance RCE Leadership Luncheon, as well as the REALTOR® Conference and Expo RCE Leadership Luncheon, by being asked to stand, as well as by a handout with a complete listing of RCEs by State.
Goal #4: Introduce and promote the availability of the automated Applicant Data Form (ADF) and the Recertification Form.
Expected Outcome: An online ADF and Recertification Form allows RCE candidates and designees to easily track points needed to certify/recertify.
Action/Update: Demonstrations of the online RCE ADF and Recertification forms were given at the AE Institute Professional Development booth. There are currently 779 ADFs active in the database, with 69 ADFs electronically submitted since March 2006.
Goal #5: RCE designees recertify every four years, so they can continue to be recognized as leaders in REALTOR® association management.
Expected Outcome: RCEs are proud to be an RCE designee, and will continually strive to be recognized as the leaders in REALTOR® association management.
Action/Update: A reception for RCE designees only was held at the 2008 AE Institute, and was very well received. Attendees received a business card holder that had the RCE logo on the front of it, and the NAR Centennial Celebration logo on the back of it, in recognition of NAR’s Centennial Celebration.
Goal #6: Develop and maintain all RCE policies and procedures; grade Section VI of the Applicant Data Form (ADF).
Expected Outcome: RCE policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually; policies are also reviewed if and when an issue comes into question.
Action/Update: The RCE Certification Board will conduct its annual review of the RCE policies and procedures at the 2008 REALTORS® Conference and Expo meeting.
