Profile Survey WG Report -- May 2007

AEC Profile Survey Work Group
May 2007

Work Group Objective
To update the Local and State Profile compensation survey questionnaire, and the Local and State Profile administrative survey questionnaire; to assist with marketing the Profile survey to ensure a high response rate and valid statistics that become the baseline for industry standards in REALTOR® association management compensation and benefits, and administration.

Background
NAR has conducted some type of local/state REALTOR® association administration/salary survey since the early 1980s. As the survey (State and Local Profile) has evolved, different concerns have arisen over its scope, effectiveness, and usefulness, not to mention confidentiality surrounding survey responses. The Association Executives Committee formed this standing work group in 2005 to monitor all aspects of the Profile, and ensure that it is updated regularly with relevant questions and consequently, relevant data report. Profile surveys will be conducted and their results posted in even years (i.e. 2006, 2008, 2010, etc.).

Meeting Activity
During this first meeting of the 2007 work group, the group reviewed the compensation questionnaire. This questionnaire was mailed to all local and state AEs in January 2006, and the results from the questionnaire were posted on-line at Realtor.org in April 2006. The next compensation questionnaire will be mailed in January 2008 with the results posted in Spring 2008.

The work group reviewed the compensation questions for value and relevancy from the standpoint of the AE constituency who will use the results to help validate their compensation and/or staffing needs.

Follow-up
Staff will incorporate the work group’s changes into the compensation questionnaire and share it with the work group over the summer for their review.

Future Meetings
The work group will meet during the REALTORS® Conference and Expo in Las Vegas this November to review and update the association administration questionnaire (part II of the Profile), which will be launched mid-summer 2008.
