REALTOR® University - Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't find the answer to your question below, contact Colleen Ryan, Manager of Education Services.

Q. What is REALTOR® University?
REALTOR® University is the National Association of REALTORS'® online education service. Real estate professionals can take courses online - anytime and anywhere there is an Internet connection. It is also a place where real estate educators can provide an alternative delivery method from the traditional face-to-face course delivery. REALTOR® University combines the instructor guidance and networking opportunities as in a classroom with the convenience and flexibility of home study courses.

Q. What type of courses are available?
Courses are available addressing a variety of topics designed to educate and help real estate practitioners accomplish their professional goals. This includes professional development courses, designation courses (such as courses leading to the Accredited Buyer Representative and Certified International Property Specialist designations), and continuing education (CE).

Q. Are these courses approved for continuing education in my state?
We are currently working with various states to get ce credit for all REALTOR® University courses. To see if your state has approved these courses check the CE Search Engine on REALTOR
® University

Q. Will I have a "real" instructor? What will be the instructor's commitment to me?
You indeed will have an instructor who is very real. In most cases, your instructor will be experienced at teaching the same course in a traditional classroom setting, so he or she will be experienced as an instructor and familiar with the course being taught. Once in the course, you will be provided the instructor's e-mail to address your questions. Instructors usually respond to queries by the next business day.

Q. What type of interaction will the students experience by taking a course at REALTOR® University?
Students will be able to interact with other students by viewing and responding to other students' responses via an online discussion forum. Students also can interact with instructors privately through e-mail.

Q. I don't consider myself a techie. What happens if I get stuck using the online course?
The software that powers REALTOR® University was designed to be very user friendly. Nonetheless, users can contact a special technical hotline or send an email to the helpdesk. There is no charge for this service; it is one of the benefits of registering for a REALTOR® University course.

Q. Will I need any special equipment?
Currently the system does not support Netscape browser or Mac computers - but anyone with an IBM compatible computer and Windows Explorer (version 4.0 or higher) should have no problem. More specific technical requirements are listed prior to previewing any course.

Q. What if I have additional questions?
Please click the "Help" link on the home page. This will allow you to send an inquiry by email that will reach REALTOR® University staff.
